An Exact Copy?

I hired a graphic specialist to paint the Ciyanjano logo on the wall fence out at the mission’s retreat center.  The graphic designer said that he had the ability to make an exact copy of the logo.  Of course, we’ve learned never to take a salesman literally, but the font that he used was so completely different than the font that Andrea designed the logo with.  The risk that we take when a “mom and pop” establishment is hired to do the work is both unnerving and comical at the same time.  One thing is for sure, we really needed to repaint the sign at the property’s entrance so that visitors could easily identify that they have now arrived at their destination.  After pulling up to the sliding gate they can see a larger Ciyanjano logo painted on the wall fence.  I’m curious what others think?

IMHO, it is a good rendition. If someone had the logo in hand and saw the sign, they may notice and you probably notice because of all the hard work in designing it. But I think it is a very good mimic of Andrea’s work.

Holly and I don’t think it’s too bad…but I certainly think Andrea’s font selection is superior.

thanks guys! I was actually fine with it and considering the guy did it free hand…I’m not complaining. Tim was worried that I’d be upset about the chunky font – but I happen to NOT be a perfectionist :)

I had to look twice to see the difference. I agree, Andrea’s was better, but the rendition still looks really good. Your eyes are drawn to the cool tree, not the font as much : )

Ditto…AJ’s is better – but with it being so big you can totally tell it’s the same logo.

I think it looks awesome. Fantastic work, Andrea! You may not be a perfectionist, but you’re a gifted artist. :)

Locals just stare at it. The minibuses stop. The oxes pulling the oxcart turn their heads. No one can seem to figure out what Ci Anjano means. Why on earth is there a tree in the middle? :) Of course their are plenty of people that figure out that the tree is supposed to be a “Y”. They walk a way with a smile. If nothing else, it’s generating interest.

It appears that this is the most “responded to” entry, so I’ll add my “two bits”. I thought the graphic artist did a GREAT job in duplicating Andrea’s VERY creative design. I love the unique “Y”, and the wide bright red letters can be seen from far away. I hope the sign lasts a long time.
